New York Press Association and Column Announce Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Public Notice Infrastructure

February 18, 2026—New York, NY

Column, the leading public notice automation platform for newspapers, today announced a strategic partnership with the New York Press Association (NYPA) to support publishers across New York with modern public notice technology and centralized digital infrastructure.

As part of this partnership, NYPA has transitioned from its previously owned public notice service, Quick Ad Creator (QAC), with participating newspapers moving to Column’s full-service public notice platform. Column’s technology enables publishers to automate notice placement, improve the submission experience for advertisers and agencies, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of public notice revenue. The transition reflects NYPA’s continued investment in reliable and accessible public notice workflows for both publishers and the public.

Public notice has long been a core civic function of local newspapers, but the operational burden of managing notices—especially as digital access expectations rise—has increasingly strained newsroom and business resources. Column’s platform is designed to modernize this workflow while preserving the role of newspapers as the trusted stewards of public information.

“New York publishers play a critical role in ensuring public notices remain accessible, searchable, and trustworthy,” said Megan Villanueva, CEO of Column. “We’re excited to partner with NYPA to give its members modern infrastructure that reduces operational friction, improves the advertiser experience, and helps secure public notice as a durable revenue stream for local news organizations.”

Column’s digital notice system allows members of the public to access notices online at any time, while providing advertisers—such as governments, law firms, and businesses—with a faster, simpler way to place notices that meet statutory requirements. For publishers, the platform replaces manual workflows with automation, centralized billing, and standardized affidavits.

“At its core, NYPA’s mission is about safeguarding information for readers, and public notices are a big part of that,” said Bryce Jacobson, Executive Director of the New York Press Association. “Making those notices easy to find, easy to access, and available whenever the public needs them is incredibly important. Column has always been strong at doing exactly that, and that’s why this partnership makes so much sense for our members.”

Jacobson added that Column’s speed and ease are especially valuable for publishers operating with lean teams. “The simplicity and efficiency of Column’s platform is a massive plus. It allows newspapers to focus on serving their communities while knowing their public notice obligations are being handled correctly and reliably.”

The partnership also opens the door for greater collaboration among New York newspapers, mirroring the success Column has seen in other states where publishers use shared infrastructure to streamline notice placement and stay aligned as regulations and customer expectations evolve.

“Public notices aren’t going away, and they shouldn’t,” Villanueva said. “They’re fundamental to transparency and civic life. Our goal is to give publishers the tools they need to carry that responsibility forward, without being held back by outdated systems.”

Just as importantly, modernizing the mechanics of public notice strengthens its public purpose—ensuring information is not only published, but truly accessible to the communities it serves.

“Searchability matters,” Jacobson added. “If public notices aren’t easy to find and easy to access, they’re not serving the public. Column’s display sites make that information available to anyone, anytime, and that’s a huge win for readers and publishers alike.”
